 The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is currently a proposal before Congress that would act to nullify virtually all federal and state limitations on abortion. I believe this is a seriously flawed idea and should be strongly rejected.

1.   There are serious moral and Biblical objections to the taking of a baby’s life – called abortion. This is probably the most volatile moral issue in America today; for our representative government to force it down people’s throats would be a genuine and ugly abomination.

2.   Recent polls indicate that the majority of Americans, seeing the carnage that abortions have wrought, are now opposed to abortions on demand.

 3.   Such FOCA legislation would thwart the national will of the American people as voiced in our many state laws that bear on abortion. States should be able to respond to its people and legislate as needed in this area.

4.  This would result in a significant and unwarranted expansion of Federal powers and a deep decrease in the rights and freedoms of the American people.

  I urge you to oppose FOCA or any measure that would have a similar impact.

     The Florida Legislature is currently considering a proposal that would create "personhood" status for a baby in the womb. We support this proposal and encourage it's enactment fot the following reasons:

1.   Babies in the womb are in need of legal protection as legitimate persons, undet the law.

2.   Recent polls indicate that the majority of Americans, seeing the carnage that abortions have wrought, are now opposed to abortions on demand.
